Contractual Savings Construction Audit

If you chose a Contractual Savings Audit we recommend starting the audit when the Construction Manager is selected, but before the detail contract language is negotiated and finalized.

To maximize savings proactively, our prospective client should submit their Request for Proposal to KBC before the construction contract proposal is negotiated.

Once we agree to work together and our contract is executed, one of our managers will request the Construction Manager's Proposed Construction Contract with all attachments, exhibits, allowances, alternatives and clarifications. Our experienced Construction Auditors will dissect the Construction Manager's proposed contract, recommend the necessary changes to reduce financial exposures and provide reasons for each recommendation for our client to use during negotiation meetings.

For contractor contracts and proposals, we analyze, dissect and make recommendations to the sections/articles we specialize in such as:

  • Pre Construction
  • Construction
  • Fee
  • Construction Costs
  • Payments
  • Final Payment
  • Auditing and Records
  • Changes
  • Insurance

To increase cost control our Audit Report includes: the original specific language, final risks, preferred language, and how to present – structure the recommended language. However, we are not lawyers using red-line changes.

Depending upon the client’s requirements we will continue our services by auditing the first several Payment Applications which are often full of errors and contractual over-billings.

The fee arrangement, hourly with a cap or fixed fee, will be offered after we determine the client’s goals and scope of audit work expected.
